IMPORTANT! If you feel unwell or think you may have a mental health problem, it is ESSENTIAL that you consult medical professionals (such as your GP) as soon as possible. DO NOT attempt self-diagnosis.

RESEARCH HELP
This study investigates how stressful or traumatic life experiences or disfigurement may impact on an individual's general health and well-being. The study is also interested in the way people cope with difficult life experiences. Click here for further information (opens in a new window)

NEW SITE ARTICLE
There is a new article 'Talking?' which is written by someone who has experienced the difficulties of finding someone to talk to about PTSD. Click here to view the article.

We recently had the opportunity to listen to the audio CD ‘Sage Advice for Trauma Survivors and Caregivers with Dr. Frank Ochberg’ from the ‘Gift from Within’ website.

We don’t normally ‘review’ products, but we were struck by the content of this CD and it’s potential value in enhancing the understanding of the condition for those with PTSD and those around them.

The CD gives a simple to understand overview of PTSD explained in a non-medical way. Although we have been involved in PTSD for a long time, it was refreshing to hear a clinician explaining PTSD with real understanding of the debilitating condition.

According to the 'Gift from Within' website:

“This CD is sensitive, friendly, and informational. It was produced for trauma survivors, their loved ones, and friends. It is a conversation with Dr. Frank Ochberg, the Founder of Gift From Within and a leading expert in the mental health field since the 1960's, and Joyce Boaz, the Executive Director. The discussion is based on questions Joyce has received from trauma survivors, families, and the Gift from Within community.”

We agree with that!

To find out for yourself, you can listen to an excerpt of the CD on the 'Gift from Within' website

CLARIFICATION

Is seems that some of our visitors are confused about our location and who this site is for

Although we welcome anyone to use this site, we are based in the UK.

Who is this site for?

Anyone who has contact with, or has been diagnosed with, PTSD - no matter how the PTSD developed.

Why did we establish this site?

There is a wealth of information on the Internet concerning the theory of PTSD but not much practical advice for living with the condition. This site was developed by people with PTSD who wanted to establish a reliable resource addressing the emotional and day-to-day problems experienced by those who live with the condition.

This site is independently operated and we receive no funding whatsoever and are not affiliated to any other organisations.
