This seems to be a question
that is often asked by those who have been diagnosed with PTSD.
The fact is that
PTSD is ‘treatable’ and
you can expect to regain control of your life provided:
- You get the right help from professionals
in the field of PTSD
- You realise that nothing happens overnight.
- That It will take
effort on your part – there
is no ‘magical’ answer and you have to make a
significant contribution to your own recovery.
- You face the fact that your life has changed
and will probably be different from now on.
So you can not expect everyone else to help
you if you are not willing to help yourself. In helping yourself,
you will gradually find that coping with the daily difficulties
of living with PTSD lessen.
It is well worth putting in that bit of effort
- no matter how long you have had PTSD.
GET HELP! It
is near impossible to make any significant recovery without
professional help. You need people who understand and
who can be there for you to guide you through difficult times.
